Twitter (X) is the most direct of the big platforms for getting subscribers: it lets you link to OnlyFans and allows adult content under certain conditions. Here’s how to promote OnlyFans on Twitter, in short: a clear profile with your link in the bio and in a pinned post, frequent posts that show your style without giving away what you sell, and plenty of conversation with your niche, without tipping into spam.

Twitter was renamed X in 2023, but most people still search for it as Twitter, so we use both names here. Step by step: what its rules allow, how to set up your profile, what to post, how to grow and how to turn followers into subscribers.

Can you promote OnlyFans on Twitter (X)? What the rules allow

Yes, and that’s the big difference from Instagram and TikTok. Since 2024, X’s adult content policy has allowed consensually produced and distributed adult content, on two conditions:

  • It has to be labeled: those posts carry a sensitive content warning that people click through before seeing them. If you post that kind of content regularly, you can mark all the media you post as sensitive in your privacy settings.
  • It can’t be somewhere highly visible: not in your profile photo, your header or live video, and not in the banners of lists or communities.

X also doesn’t show that content to users under 18 or to people who haven’t added a date of birth.

Just because X allows it doesn’t mean showing everything is a good idea. Whatever you give away on your public profile is what you can’t sell on OnlyFans, and a SFW (safe for work) account reaches more people and takes fewer risks.

What X won’t tolerate:

  • Commercial spam: activity designed to pull attention away from a conversation toward accounts, websites or products. Jumping on trending topics that have nothing to do with you to drive traffic to your profile falls into this category.
  • Fake or coordinated engagement: inflating followers, likes or reposts with fake accounts, automation or organized groups.
  • Misusing multiple accounts: you can run up to ten, as long as they serve different purposes and don’t duplicate each other.
  • Ads for adult content: X’s ads policy prohibits promoting adult sexual content worldwide, even though regular posts allow it under conditions.

Penalties range from removing a post to putting your account in read-only mode or suspending it. If you think a penalty is a mistake, you can appeal through the notice you receive or through X’s Help Center.

How to promote OnlyFans on Twitter (X) step by step

1. Set up a profile that converts

  • Name and handle: your stage name, the same one you use on OnlyFans and everywhere else, easy to type and remember.
  • Profile photo and header: recognizable and SFW, which is also what the rules require.
  • Bio: what you offer, how often you post and in what language, plus the link, either straight to OnlyFans or to your own landing page with all your links.
  • Pinned post: your introduction, with the link and your current offer. It’s the first thing people see when they land on your profile.

An example pinned post:

I’m [your name]. I do cosplay and post the making-of of every shoot here. Full shoots and chatting with me: link in bio. This week, a 7-day free trial.

2. Post what converts

X moves fast: a post doesn’t last long in the feed, so volume and conversation count for more than the perfect post. A mix that works:

  • Teasers: photos or short videos that show your style without giving away paid content.
  • Personal posts: opinions, your day, what happened during a shoot. That’s what makes people follow you rather than just another account.
  • Polls and questions: “Which shoot should I post on Friday?” gets you replies and tells you what your audience wants.
  • Threads: a behind-the-scenes story told across several posts, or tips from your niche.
  • News: a new shoot, a live stream or a promotion, always with a date.

Some examples you can adapt to your niche:

Type Example
Question “Friday’s shoot: anime character or video game character? Most replies wins.”
Teaser “First photo from this week’s shoot. The lighting? Two lamps and a curtain.” (with a SFW photo)
Personal “Three hours on a hairstyle that lasts ten seconds on camera. Worth it?”
Thread “How I put together a cosplay from start to finish, in six steps:”
Dated news “Until Sunday, the subscription is discounted for new fans. Link in bio.”

Most of your posts shouldn’t ask for anything. And one practical detail: on X, posts with external links tend to get less reach than others, so keep the link in your bio and pinned post, or add it in a reply to your own post.

A sample week:

When What to post
Every morning Something personal or a question to start a conversation
Midday A teaser of the week’s shoot
Afternoon Replies in conversations in your niche
Twice a week A thread or a poll
When it’s time The announcement of something new or a promotion, with a date

3. Grow your OnlyFans on Twitter with conversation and collaborations

  • Reply a lot, and well: replies that add something on accounts in your niche are the cheapest way to get new people to notice you.
  • Shoutouts with other creators: each one recommends the other. They work best with similar but not identical audiences, and it’s worth agreeing in advance what each of you posts, when, and how you’ll measure it.
  • X Communities: topic-based groups, each with its own rules. Read them before posting.
  • Lists: create one with the accounts in your niche so you don’t miss their conversations.
  • Spaces: a live audio chat with other creators or with your audience brings you closer to people who haven’t subscribed yet.

What to avoid: follow trains, repost trains and mass engagement groups. They inflate numbers that don’t turn into subscribers and come close to breaking X’s rules on fake engagement and coordinated activity.

4. Convert with time-limited promotions

The conversion happens on OnlyFans, but X is where you push it. These OnlyFans tools fit perfectly here:

  • Free trial links, limited in number and days, for people who are still on the fence.
  • Discount campaigns for new subscribers or for people who subscribed before and left.
  • Multi-month bundles at a discount, for people who already know you.

Announce them on X with a real end date and remind people as it gets close. Urgency works when it’s true: if every week is “your last chance”, nobody believes it. And if you run a giveaway, don’t make people create accounts or post the same thing over and over.

You’ll find ballpark figures for each case in how much to charge for your OnlyFans, and how to get your OnlyFans profile ready so people stay once they arrive in how to get subscribers on OnlyFans.

Hashtags to promote OnlyFans on Twitter: do they help?

Generic promo hashtags are saturated and, above all, full of posts from other creators, not fans. One or two hashtags from your niche (cosplay, fitness, a video game) work better, and conversation works better than any hashtag.

The same goes for trends: only join the ones that have something to do with you and where you can add something. Using an unrelated trend to drive traffic to your profile is exactly what X considers commercial spam, and it doesn’t convert anyway, because people following that trend weren’t looking for what you offer.

Multiple accounts, languages and countries

X is a global platform and one of the best for reaching fans outside your own country. If you want to do that:

  • Open one account per language or market, each with its own angle. X’s rules allow up to ten accounts with different purposes, but not for them to post the same content or like each other’s posts to inflate numbers.
  • Think about that audience’s time zone, not yours. If you’re in London or Sydney and many of your fans are in the US, schedule your posts for their evening.
  • Adapt your tone and references: what’s funny in the UK doesn’t always land in the US.
  • Measure each account with its own OnlyFans tracking link.

That’s what we call multi-country accounts at the agency: profiles in different markets that all point to your main account.

Promoting on X without showing your face

X works well with a stage name and without showing your face: what hooks people is your voice and your style. Use an email address and phone number that aren’t tied to your personal account, go to your privacy settings and turn off the options that let people find you by your email or phone number, and check that your photos don’t show where you live or anything else that identifies you. There are more tips in how to keep your OnlyFans anonymous.

How to measure what works

  • Post analytics: impressions, profile visits and link clicks. They tell you which formats people are interested in.
  • OnlyFans tracking links: one for your bio, another for your pinned post and one per collaboration. They tell you what really converts.
  • Renewals: subscribers who arrive through a very aggressive promotion sometimes leave the following month. Check how many stay.

Review the numbers every week and change one thing at a time: that way you’ll know what made the difference.

Mistakes that hold your X account back

  • Posting adult content without labeling it, or putting it in your profile photo or header.
  • Filling your profile with links and ads without any conversation.
  • Sending mass DMs to strangers.
  • Buying followers or joining follow trains.
  • Copying other creators’ posts.
  • Relying on X alone: if you’re suspended, you need another channel. The options are in our guide to promoting OnlyFans everywhere.

Marketing your OnlyFans on Twitter well takes time every day: posting, replying, collaborating and measuring. If you’d rather have a team handle it along with the rest of your platforms, that’s how our OnlyFans marketing service works.
