Here’s how to get verified on OnlyFans: from your account menu, start the creator sign-up, enter your legal details, upload photos of a valid government-issued photo ID and complete a selfie or face scan with your phone’s camera. OnlyFans checks that you’re 18 or older and that your face matches your ID, and you can’t get paid until you’re approved.

If you don’t have an account yet, start with how to make an OnlyFans account. This guide covers only the verification: which ID to use, how to take photos that pass the first time, how long it takes and what to do if it’s rejected.

Why OnlyFans verifies creators

Verification is mandatory for every creator. It confirms three things: that you’re an adult, that you are who you say you are and that the money goes to the right person. That’s why there’s no way to get paid without it, or to verify with someone else’s details.

Two things worth knowing:

  • Your details aren’t public. Your legal name, your ID and your address don’t appear on your page: fans only see the name and username you choose.
  • Anyone else in your content has to be verified too. OnlyFans’ rules require it for every person who appears in your posts.

OnlyFans verification requirements

  • A valid government-issued photo ID in good condition. The original: no photocopies, no photos of photos and no ID shown on another screen.
  • A phone with a decent camera: the front one for the selfie, the back one for the ID.
  • Daylight from the front and a plain background. Next to a window during the day usually does it.
  • Your details typed exactly as they appear on your ID: full name, including any middle name shown, and date of birth.
  • A stable connection, because the face scan can fail if your signal drops.

The rest of what you need to become a creator (bank account, country, tax details) is in our list of OnlyFans requirements.

Which ID works in the US, UK, Canada and Australia

OnlyFans accepts official photo ID: passports, national or state ID cards and, in many cases, driver’s licenses. These are the documents creators commonly use in each country:

Country Documents that usually work Watch out for
United States Passport, driver’s license or state ID card Use the physical card, not a mobile ID in a phone wallet app
United Kingdom Passport or photocard driving licence Old paper licences have no photo and won’t work
Canada Passport, provincial driver’s licence or provincial photo ID card Use the plastic card, not a temporary paper licence
Australia Passport, driver licence or state photo card If your state issues a digital licence, photograph the physical card instead

If you live outside the country that issued your ID

If you’re living abroad, the usual approach is to verify with your passport and enter the country where you actually live as your country of residence. Local residence documents don’t always work. What matters is that your country of residence fits your address and the bank account you’ll add later.

How to get verified on OnlyFans, step by step

  1. Log in from your browser and open Become a creator (or the prompt to add your bank and start earning).
  2. Fill in your legal details: country of residence, name exactly as on your ID, date of birth and address.
  3. Choose your document type and upload the photos, front and back if it has one: the whole card, in focus, with no fingers over it and no flash.
  4. Do the selfie or face scan following the on-screen instructions (look at the camera, turn your head a little, move closer). Keep your face uncovered: no sunglasses, cap or mask.
  5. Submit and wait for the email or notification.
  6. Once you’re approved, add your payout method. The account holder has to be the same person who verified; how and when you get paid is in how long OnlyFans takes to pay out.

Tips for photos that pass the first time

  • Lay the ID on a dark, plain surface with all four corners showing.
  • Turn off the flash and face the light: with light behind you, your face comes out dark.
  • No filters, beauty mode or cropping, and don’t edit the photo.
  • Zoom in before you send it and check that every detail is readable.
  • For the face scan, hold your phone at face height and only move as much as it asks.

How long does OnlyFans take to verify your ID?

It usually takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days, and longer at busy times. While it’s under review, don’t submit it again: wait for the notification. You can check the status in the same place you submitted it, and if a week goes by with no news, contact OnlyFans support through the Help Center.

So how long does it take to get verified on OnlyFans from start to finish? Signing up takes minutes; the review is the part you wait for. Use that time to set up your page, so you’re ready to go the moment you’re approved.

Can you get verified on OnlyFans without social media?

Yes. Verification is based on your ID and your face, not on your followers or your social accounts. If the creator form shows fields for social links, they’re for your profile and your promotion.

Social media is still how most creators bring fans to their page. If you’d rather not use it, there are other routes in how to promote OnlyFans without social media.

OnlyFans verification rejected: what to do

A rejection isn’t the end: it can almost always be fixed. These are the usual reasons and what to do about each:

Reason What to do
Blurry, cropped or glare-covered photo Retake it in daylight, without flash, with the whole document in the frame
Expired, damaged or unaccepted ID Renew it or verify with your passport
Details that don’t match your ID Correct the form so it matches letter for letter: middle names, hyphens, date of birth
A selfie that doesn’t match or isn’t clear Face uncovered, light in front of you, whole face in the frame
Photocopy, photo of a screen or someone else’s ID Only your own original works; using someone else’s ID is fraud and gets you banned
Country of residence that doesn’t fit your details Enter the country you actually live in, even if your ID is from another one
Being under 18 No fix: OnlyFans is for adults only

Step by step if you’re rejected

  1. Read the reason in the email or notification.
  2. Fix only that and resubmit. Don’t change details that were right.
  3. If it fails again with the same document, try another one, usually your passport.
  4. If there’s no clear reason or the review drags on, contact support through the OnlyFans Help Center and explain what happened. Don’t send photos of your ID through any other channel.
  5. Be wary of anyone offering to “verify your account” or sell you one that’s already verified. It’s a scam, it breaks OnlyFans’ rules and it can leave your identity in a stranger’s hands.

OnlyFans UK verification: the age checks for fans

If you’re a creator in the UK, your verification works exactly as described above. What changed in the UK is on the fan side. Under the Online Safety Act, sites and apps that allow explicit adult content have had to use “highly effective” age checks for UK users since July 25, 2025, and Ofcom, the UK regulator, enforces it. Ticking a box to say you’re over 18 doesn’t count: Ofcom’s guidance lists methods such as facial age estimation, photo ID checks and credit card checks.

What it means for you as a creator:

  • It doesn’t replace your creator verification, and it doesn’t add steps to it.
  • Fans in the UK may have to pass an age check before they can see content or subscribe.
  • The rules can change, so if a large share of your fans are in the UK, keep an eye on Ofcom’s and OnlyFans’ current guidance.

What happens to your data

Your ID and the images of your face are used to check your identity and aren’t shown to fans. OnlyFans handles them under its privacy policy, which explains how long it keeps them and how to exercise your rights over them.

The real risk is outside verification: nobody from OnlyFans, and no serious agency, will ask you by message for photos of your ID or for your password. To lock down the rest of your account, see our guide to OnlyFans privacy settings.
