An OnlyFans creator account is a regular OnlyFans account that has passed identity verification and has payout details attached, so it can charge for subscriptions, tips and paid messages. Opening one costs nothing: according to OnlyFans’ terms, the platform keeps 20% of what fans pay and you keep 80%. Whether it actually makes money depends on how you set it up: your page, your prices, your payout details and the content waiting for your first fans.

This guide is about setting up the creator side properly. If you haven’t opened your account yet, the sign-up itself is explained step by step in how to make an OnlyFans account.

Fan account vs creator account: what’s the difference

Every OnlyFans account starts as a fan account. It becomes a creator account when you verify your identity and add a way to get paid.

Fan account Creator account
What it’s for Subscribing to creators, tipping, buying paid messages Selling subscriptions, paid posts and paid messages, receiving tips
Identity check Only the age checks some countries require (the UK, for example) Always: government photo ID plus a selfie or face scan
Payment details A card to pay with A bank account (or other payout method) in your name to get paid
What people see A basic profile Your page: photos, bio, price and posts
Subscribing to others Yes Yes, with a card added

Two practical points:

  • You can keep the same login. If you already have a fan account, you can turn it into a creator account. But if you want your creator side to stay private, open a separate account with a new email and a stage name.
  • The switch is about verification, not followers. OnlyFans doesn’t ask for a minimum audience; what it checks is your age, your identity and your payout details.

How to make an OnlyFans creator account

In short:

  1. Sign up at onlyfans.com and confirm your email.
  2. Open the menu and choose Become a creator (or the prompt to add your bank and start earning).
  3. Enter your legal details, upload your ID and complete the selfie or face scan.
  4. Once you’re approved, add your payout method in Banking.

To apply, you need to be 18 or older, have a valid government photo ID and a bank account in your own name, in a country OnlyFans pays to. What each country asks for is in our list of OnlyFans requirements.

How much does an OnlyFans creator account cost?

Nothing to open it and no monthly fee. OnlyFans makes money when you do: it keeps 20% of every payment from your fans, and the balance you see is your 80%.

What can cost you money:

  • Bank and currency fees. OnlyFans pays in US dollars. Outside the US, your bank may charge you to receive an international transfer and will apply its own exchange rate. Some payout methods have their own fee or minimum, which you’ll see when you choose one.
  • What you decide to invest: lighting, a better phone or camera, editing apps, promotion.
  • Help, if you want it: an editor, chatters or an agency.

Nobody can charge you to “verify” or “activate” a creator account. If someone offers that, or offers to sell you an account that’s already verified, it’s a scam and it breaks OnlyFans’ terms.

OnlyFans creator account rejected? Common reasons

Most rejections come down to something you can fix:

  • ID photos that are blurry, cropped or covered in glare. Retake them in daylight, without flash, with the whole document in the frame.
  • An expired, damaged or unaccepted ID. Renew it or use another one, usually your passport.
  • Details that don’t match your ID. Your name (with any middle name shown on the document) and your date of birth have to match letter for letter.
  • A selfie or face scan that doesn’t match. Face uncovered, light in front of you, whole face in the frame.
  • A country of residence that doesn’t fit your details. Enter where you actually live, even if your ID is from somewhere else.
  • A payout account in someone else’s name. It has to belong to the verified person.
  • Being under 18. There’s no workaround: OnlyFans is for adults only.

Read the reason in the email or notification, fix only that and resubmit. If it fails again with the same document, try a different one. If there’s no clear reason or the review drags on, contact support through the OnlyFans Help Center. The full walkthrough, with photo tips, is in our guide on how to get verified on OnlyFans.

How to set up OnlyFans to make money

Approval opens the door. These are the settings to sort out before you send anyone to your page.

Your page: name, username, photos and bio

  • Username: short, easy to spell and the same as on your social accounts, because it becomes your link. Changing it later breaks the links you’ve already shared.
  • Display name: your stage name. It doesn’t have to match your username, but it helps people recognize you.
  • Profile photo and header: sharp, well lit and clear about what you offer, even at phone size.
  • Bio: two or three lines on what fans get and how often, within OnlyFans’ rules. You’ll find examples in our OnlyFans bio ideas.

Subscription price, bundles and promotions

  • Free or paid page. A free page lowers the barrier and makes its money from paid messages and paid posts. A paid page charges a monthly price which, under OnlyFans’ current terms, goes from $4.99 to $49.99.
  • Bundles: 3-, 6- or 12-month subscriptions at a discount, to keep fans around longer.
  • Promotions and free trials: discounted or free periods for new subscribers (and, if you want, for fans whose subscription expired) to get the first ones through the door.

All of this can be changed later. How to choose between free and paid, and when to raise your price, is in the OnlyFans pricing guide.

The subscription is only part of the income. A creator account can also:

  • send paid messages (PPV), content fans pay to open, one by one or as mass messages;
  • receive tips on posts, in messages and during live streams;
  • publish paid posts on the feed, even on a free page;
  • send an automatic welcome message to every new subscriber, a good place to introduce yourself and your extras.

Payout and tax settings

  • Payout method. In Banking, add an account in your legal name. The options depend on your country of residence; payout times and minimums are in how long OnlyFans takes to pay out.
  • Withdrawals. You can withdraw by hand whenever your available balance passes the minimum, or set up automatic withdrawals.
  • Tax details. US creators complete a Form W-9 with an SSN or an EIN. Wherever you live, OnlyFans generally doesn’t withhold tax, so what you earn has to be declared.

Privacy and security settings

  • Two-step verification on, and a password you don’t use anywhere else.
  • Geo-blocking if you don’t want people in your country (or state) to see your page.
  • Watermarks and leak protection: check the options in your privacy settings. Our guide to OnlyFans privacy settings goes through them one by one.

Before you promote: a launch checklist

  • Your page has a username, photos and a bio that say what you offer.
  • There are enough posts on your feed for a new subscriber to get value on day one.
  • Your price is set, and you’ve decided whether to launch with a promotion.
  • Your welcome message is ready.
  • Your payout method is approved.
  • Two-step verification is on.
  • Your social accounts use the same stage name and link to your page within each platform’s rules.

If you’d rather have a team handle the setup, the promotion and the chat, that’s what an OnlyFans manager does day to day.
